Program for PSW's

Module 1 (Theory – 1 Day)

The session will be held online via Zoom, providing an opportunity to engage directly with the Director of Education and the Program Developer. This interactive format allows participants to gain valuable insights, ask questions, and discuss key topics in detail, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the program and its objectives.

Module 2 (Independent Study)

Chapter questions and assignments for the PPSW program are designed to enhance students’ understanding and application of the program material. These assignments will be submitted by students to the instructor through an online platform, offering a streamlined and efficient method for both submission and feedback. This online system ensures that instructors can provide timely guidance, clarification, and support throughout the learning process, helping students to stay on track and succeed.

Once students have completed the registration process, they will be granted access to the necessary working PPSW documents. These resources will be made available through a secure online portal, ensuring that all registered students can easily access the materials they need at any time. This system promotes a flexible and organized learning experience, allowing students to work at their own pace while having all the resources required for the successful completion of the program readily available.

Module 3 (2 Practicum Days)

Students will undergo comprehensive one-on-one skills training in a professional clinic setting, where they will be mentored by experienced professionals. This hands-on training is scheduled with the clinic facility once the theoretical portion of the program has been successfully completed, allowing students to apply their learned knowledge in a real-world environment.

Throughout the training, students will engage with multiple case studies on a daily basis, each presenting various elements of PSW foot care. These case studies are designed to simulate diverse patient needs, ensuring that students develop a well-rounded understanding of foot care practices. Under the guidance of their mentor, students will have the opportunity to perform Podortho® Personal Support Worker assessments, provide patient care, conduct thorough evaluations, deliver health education to patients, and complete all required documentation. Each step of this process will be carefully observed and evaluated by a Podortho® Foot Specialist instructor, ensuring that students adhere to the highest standards of practice and gain valuable feedback for their continued development in the program. This structured, hands-on experience ensures that students are fully prepared to excel in their roles as skilled, confident PSWs specializing in foot care.

Module 4
(Written Exam) (OPSWA+OFCA APPROVED)

The in-person examination is typically scheduled for the final clinical day of the program; however, it can be arranged with the facilitator at a time that is more convenient for the student, once they feel adequately prepared to take the exam. While the examination may be taken at any point after completion of the relevant modules, it is strongly recommended that students complete Modules 1, 2, and 3 prior to attempting the exam. This ensures that students have thoroughly absorbed and applied the foundational knowledge and skills required for success. The facilitator will work closely with each student to ensure they are fully prepared and confident before scheduling the exam, allowing for a flexible and supportive testing experience
